Weekend recap

Jack can pull himself up and stand on his own! Look out world! This little trouble-maker is going to be walking any day. Looks like I will have to make sure the gate going upstairs is up and I think I might have to baby-proof some more cabinets and drawers. Ellie was curious, but not like the trouble-maker. He is in everything!

Saturday night I went out with my girls to Delafield Days to see the Lovemonkeys. It was a blast, even though we got rained on right after the show. I had so much fun, it was just what I needed!

Ellie is now in a 'toddler' bed. No more crib! Can you believe it. At least I did it before she turns 3, next Friday :) I put pillows next to her bed just in case she falls out. She did really good and didn't roll out. I was really surprised. I think she is going to love being able to go in and out of her bed whenever she wants.

We took the kids swimming at Nick's parent's house. Ellie LOVED it, Jack not so much.

Haha!

Num, Nums!

Baby Jack is a hungry Jack! We've now upgraded to some real food. Here is Jack eating tofu for the first time. He LOVES it.

Park

A couple days ago we went to Cushing Park in Delafield. It's not too far from our house and there are a lot of shade trees. We didn't stay too long, just long enough to get out of the house and to be in different scenery. Ellie loves this park and as soon as Jack can walk and experience it, I think he'll like it too. Ellie loves the slide!!

July 4th weekend

Having off 5 days in a row was heaven! We did everything from splashing in the kiddie pool, to shopping, parties, movie watching, eating, laughing, napping and trying to stay cool from the heat! It was a nice break from work that's for sure. I found this little kiddie pool w/ slide from Target and Ellie and Jack loved it! Jack started out in the little mini pool that is about 2 inches deep, but then he decided he wanted to go in to the 'big' pool where Ellie was having so much fun. He tried crawling into it a few times and then I decided to just plop him in. He was a little scared at first, but more shocked from the  ice cold water. Even though the temp outside was well over 100 degrees, the water stayed cool because it was in the shade. I bought a pop-up tent canopy and it made such a big difference. We are thinking about what we should do for some more shade and privacy on our lower level patio. I've been trying to get ideas on Pinterest of course, but I'm not sure if a pergola will do it. They look awesome, but I think we need something a little more solid that doesn't allow light to shine through.

We stayed in the house a bit on the 4th, just because it was so hot. I recently got new blinds for the lower level and they make such a big difference with the sun.

Bedtime

I love and hate bedtime. I'm usually exhausted by this time, but I really want to play and act crazy like Ellie and Jack. They love rolling around in Ellie's room, ignoring Nick while he reads story after story. Neither of them really listen to the reading, but it's nice background noise. They just play and act goofy, it's a weird combination of tiredness and giggles. It's also really hot in Ellie's room because it's upstairs, maybe that is why they act all crazy. Ellie usually wants to go to bed, so when we say "okay get your blanket, turn on your light and music, give me a kiss and squeezer"... she listens! Never fighting, but sometimes asking for water a few times. She also needs her 2 Hello Kitty's (pink goes in bed and white goes on the chair), and her baby doll goes on her pillow. When she lays down, I lift her head up and make sure I 'fix' her hair - she likes it when I pull it out from under and pull it so it lays over her pillow. Night Night!!

Weekend recap

Monday came way to fast! Friday night we went for pizza and ice cream for my mom's birthday. It was yummy!

We made a last minute decision to go to Ikea on Saturday. Wendi needed to get some frames and shelves for the baby's room and it's hard to pass up a trip to Schaumburg.

Here's a picture of Ellie and Jack at Ikea.

I was at the Nine West outlet browsing and turned around to see Ellie with these bright yellow heels on. She really wanted to buy them too! It was hilarious. She also can walk very well in heels.

The highlight of the weekend was when Jack tried some green tea icee that my mom was eating.

Every time he had a taste he would make this face, but he kept wanting more. He's so silly!
