Owl hat

I LOVE October. I love this time of year... pumpkins, crisp air, Halloween, football season, naps, apples, the leaves changing, I could go on and on. I found this really cute Owl hat for Ellie at Target and bought it. I liked it because it has ear flaps and will keep her warm in the winter. As soon as we got home she wanted to put it on and she pretty much wears it all the time, even if her head is hot and sweaty. We have convinced her that she can not wear it in the bath or to bed, but she insists that she has it on whenever she can.

Another bike ride

Another bike ride with Ellie. This time I went too! We took a rest stop at the pier on the pond near our house.

Some updates

- Jack and I have super bad acne right now, hopefully it will go away soon.
- Jack sleeps a lot during the day, not so much at night, but is at an average of 4 hours between feedings. Last night he slept a little over 6 hours *YAY*
- Jack is growing as I type this. He is only 6 weeks old today and I just bumped him up to 6 months pajamas.
- Jack has peed on Nick and I a half dozen times. We still haven't learned. He ALWAYS pees in the bath.
- Today was Ellie 2nd day at day care. She cried when I left, probably because I stayed and hung out for about a half hour too long. I think the day care ladies are annoyed with me and think I'm crazy. I think they should get a web camera. I would have a fundraiser if it would help. I can make some really good banana bread.
- Ellie is getting less shy. She actually waves to strangers in the store and doesn't hide like she use to.
- Went to the dentist today and have 3 small cavities. Shoot. It's not all my fault, part of it is Jacks. (just saying)

Here are some pictures of what some of the day consists of....

Last days of summer....

Here are some pictures from the lasts day of summer. I can't believe it's over!

Wendi and her boyfriend Nick took Ellie for a bike ride. She loved it!

Wendi is ready to go.

We stayed back with Jack while they went on their bike ride.

Daddy and Ellie playing on the swingset.

I love this picture. Ellie is SO cute here. She is a movie star!

Nick showing off.

New starts

Yesterday Nick, Ellie and I went to check out the daycare at Divine Redeemer. It's the same church Ellie got baptized. They have day care for infants and up. We left her in the room with the other 2 year olds for about 15-20 minutes and she seemed fine. We are planning on having her go twice a week for about 4-5 hours. I'm not sure if this will be too much for her in the beginning or what. She has never been without one of us (even for a minute) and she is in a strange place. ugh.

Over the last month she isn't as shy as she use to be and we are hoping that this socialization will help her. Well, we pulled the trigger today and she is at daycare as I type!! Oh my. She looked sad when I left and I didn't even give her a chance to scream, I just quickly walked out. I know that this is going to be really good for her and after she realizes that we are coming back to pick her up she won't be like WTF!?
Here's a picture right before we left. I hope she isn't mad at me :(

1 month already!

I can't believe it's been over a month since Jack was born. It's been an exciting, but exhausting week. I think I've come out of the 'blurry' feeling and am now just a little crabby from the lack of sleep. We have definitely been spoiled with Ellie. She is the best sleeper ever, besides her dad and Meeko. She loves taking her nap and always grabs her blankey to go to bed. I hope Jack is the same way, once he gets a little older and sleeps through the night.  I've been making sure that Jack does A LOT of tummy time and let him sleep on his tummy when I'm right next to him. I'm a little paranoid about having to get him a doc band like Ellie had. I'm sure he'll be fine since we are aware of this and he isn't premature or have torticollis like Ellie.

Ellie has been enjoying Jack and is very sweet to him, except when she kicked him in the head or used his body as a pillow to sit up. She's 2, so she has no idea how fragile he is. Jack and Ellie are such different babies, probably because of their size difference. Ellie was 4.13 lbs and  Jack was 9.4 lbs! My body could really tell the difference too and recovering is much harder.

We visited Jack's pediatric dermatologist at Children's last week to discuss his birthmark. After Nick and I asked a million questions, we left the dr's office planning on doing his surgery when he is 6 months. I was hoping to do it this year, just to get it over with and because we've obviously met our deductible for this year. The doctor recommends this age because they put him under for the surgery and because his skin will be stronger, but still young enough for the scar to heal better. Basically they will be cutting through all 3 layers of the skin to cut out all of the cells. They also have to cut outside of the birthmark too. The incision will be cut like a football shape and then stiched in a line. He will have a scar, but hopefully it won't be too bad. The risk of melanoma cancer is higher, so I will be happy when it's gone. They also do a biopsy to make sure they got the outside cells of the birthmark.  We are still going to talk to the cosmetic surgeon to see what he recommends.
