It was hard to leave the house this morning. I was already running a little late and when I went to shut Ellie's door (so she wouldn't wake up from me getting ready), she was awake. I check on her every morning and she is usually sleeping, but this morning she was wide awake! I didn't have time to change her, let along feed her. I'm so grateful that she is such a happy baby in the morning and lucky that Nick can spend some time with her in the morning too. I usually don't have days where I dread going to work, probably because my mom is with Ellie all day. I'm SO lucky! Ellie is also starting to babble a lot more. A couple of months ago I would have said her first word was "hi", but now that I think about it, she really wasn't saying it. She says "baba, baba". Which is short for grandma in Japanese. hmmmm... wonder where she learned that! It's so cute:)

Here are some pictures from a few weeks ago.
Ellie is wearing a pair of her babylegs which we love!
I bought them on Etsy.

(Here's a picture of my mom, Ellie-cakes and Lucy)
I've been wanting to post, because I have some news! Ellie got her first tooth!! Last week Wednesday we noticed it. I didn't believe my mom at first, but when I felt it and then got a peak I was so excited! I would've liked to have gotten a picture of it, but every time I try to pry Ellie's mouth open, she sticks her little tongue out. I think this whole tooth thing is the reason why she's been acting funny. We (me and Wendi) also believe that there is a possible ghost or something in the laundry room where Ellie takes her baths. She keeps looking at the top of the door, but we have been able to distract her so she doesn't cry. It's weird!

We went to the therapist yesterday for Ellie's helmet and her head grew a half a centimeter! She had a growth spurt! Her flat spot has gotten so much better - it's amazing. We're half way threw with the helmet. She gets it off June 7th! I might be a little sad when she doesn't have to wear it, only because that means she getting older.

Stay tuned for a picture of Ellie's tooth....

So last night as I got Ellie ready for her bath, she was laughing and squirmy and so happy until.... her dad came in. She cried and cried! I think she was scared. Here she is naked squealing and laughing and kicking because she loooooooves bath time and then all of a sudden someone opens the door and interrupts. I don't think it mattered who it was, just that she was interrupted. I hope this is the case, although he came back 5 mintues later and she cried again (and I think he cried a little too). After her bath she was fine and Nick read her a story and gave her a bottle.

This picture is of Ellie a few weeks ago, just relaxing in the bath :)

So, last night as I sat a the kitchen table and Nick watched TV we heard a big cry!! This has NEVER happened. I ran into Ellie's room and tears were rolling down her face as she tried to catch her breath. I picked her up and held her and Nick was right there begging to hold her too! (this was cute because he just felt so bad as did I). Nick thought he heard a loud motorcycle or something, but I didn't hear it (and I have good ears).

THEN in the middle of the night maybe around midnight we both woke up because there was a loud noise. Of course I got up to check things out as Nick patiently waited in bed. I didn't find anything unusual, except maybe the upstairs baby gate might have fallen.

4 am - Ellie is awake, talking and has her eyes wide open. This also never happens!

conclusion: Ghosts. I hope they are friendly.

Easter Weekend

Easter weekend was great, except Wendi was gone:( Her flight out of Aspen was cancelled Saturday night, so she missed Easter with us. I secretly hid a blue Easter basket for Nick and a pink for Ellie. Nick took Ellie around the house looking for the eggs and baskets. Of course we found 2 eggs the next day that I forgot about.

Here's a picture of Ellie in her Easter bunny hat, sans her helmet. The bunny hat wouldn't fit over it!

Her outfit is from Wendi and is SO soft and cute. Here's another picture of her cute birdie on her behind. She is really learning to get around.... not crawling yet, but any day now. Although she might walk first! Which may be the case, since she is very speedy in her walker. My dad installed the 'permanent', 'child-proof' (and adult) gate at the top of the lower level stairs. It's kind of hard to open, but I guess that is the idea. We'll see how long it lasts there before Nick or I break it!!
